## When you first join

When you first join, you confirm:

- the **privacy notice**
- the **terms of use**
- the network **rules**

If you decline, you leave the network. Before you enter a game mode for the first time, you also confirm its rules. When the rules change, you confirm them again in the lobby. `/confirm` reopens a pending confirmation.

## In the lobby

After joining, you land in the lobby. Your hotbar:

- **Compass – Game selection:** choose a game mode
- **Firework star – Player visibility:** see all, selected or no players
- **Nether star – Lobby selection:** switch lobby
- **Clock – Streak:** your daily streak
- **Chest – Inventory:** your rewards and boosters
- **Your head – My account:** profile, friends, settings

## Start playing

Open the compass and choose [SMP](/game-modes/smp) or [Creative](/game-modes/creative). You can also click the NPCs in the lobby. `/lobby` takes you back at any time.

The SMP needs a [Discord link](/guides/account#discord).
